Which Boost solenoid do you prefer
I like the perrin multi-valve
I understand its used to adjust to meet the mapping of tune on turbo, but I only need it turn on and off. -- Little background, lately the big mod for mustangs with centrifical blowers is in stalling a Turbo wastegate before the throttlebody and install a small pulley to basically allow the boost to build sooner. Then use an electronic solenoid wired to a switch that also controls MSD timing via the nitrous activation access. Basically while cruising around in low boost the wastegate is open. Then flick the switch shutting the wastegate, switching the tune, arm the meth and timing to high boost. Instead of reaching full boost at 5500 with a large pulley it hits full boost at 3500-4000 with a small pulley. Then with the wastegate open it dumps the excess boost. Go from a friendly 6-8 low boost to 15 high boost. Sounds crazy for you turbo people, but instead manually swapping pulleys and belts. Now it can be done on the fly.

No input, but i learned something new. Are you using a standalone for the 2 maps?

AEM boost solenoid works great.

I had a GM boost control solenoid and it worked for about two months and failed. It just stopped working completely.
Went with the AEM and never had another problem.

That is a really cool idea honestly. I had never thought about a dump off type set up like that. The question though, if if you're using a blow through, or even a pull through maf set up, how does it like having that air dumped out of the system?

Ryan you with a pull thru maf you run tubing around just behind the maf and in front of the supercharger. This way the metered air is still in the system. Same method as a blow off valve.
I don't need to map it like a turbo, since mainly being used like shutoff valve. While studying last night I could use a electric solenoid with a variable signal knob. Basically a device that is 0V thru 12V and is adjustable. This way attachedd to the electronic solend the it would limit how much the wastegate stays open. So you could literally adjust from 15lbs ot 0 lbs. You turbo guys use the wastegate on the exhaust limiiting flow to the propellers. What I am doing is basically using it as big bleeder valve.

You could basically be a real quick sleeper, run all day on the track running low boost, the flick the switch and run a high boost combo for the big money without popping the hood and no bottle showing

mine is integral to the standalone ecu, it's awesome and stupid cheap. it makes for easy control of boost and great boost protection

I've never heard of a boost solenoid built in to an ECU? What ECU is it?

well, your centrifigal is essentially a turbo with a belt drive vs. exhaust driven, so I'd assume most turbo related stuff would work well with it.

Grimmspeed makes aftermarket BCSs for Evos and Subarus, from what i've heard from people that use them, they're a BIG upgrade over stock.

only issue i have with that is by putting on a smaller pulley you are over driving the supercharger, for some superchargers that's no problems and on others it could mean bad news just something to ponder

Centrifigal with the correct vane design isn't an issue. Newer vortech have the same curved vane design as a turbo wheel, old designs were just straight and higher rotational rpms didn't increase power.

megasquirt the circuit is integral but the solenoid but the solenoid can be mounted internally or externally to the ecu box. |
