Semi finished 3 year project called: FoxRod

Semi finished meaning it took its maiden voyage down the street and back.

'89 Mustang GT w/ 306 and a vortech with custom interior and rolling on 18" BBS wheels. Soon to be seen in parking lots around the city.

Nice! That era had some terrible dash, steering wheel, etc. designs though.

What mid 80's car doesn't.

I have suede momo wheel to install this winter.

Like my wideband gauge holder, totally custom via bluetape.

Little update: I have had the car at a shop the specializes in Road Race mustangs out of state. I had a random start issue and also needed the suspension set-up, and get the combo tuned.

The no-start issue was a aftermarket distributor by MSD that was machined bad. It would allow the rotor pickup to rotate back and forth 3-5 degrees.

The dyno tune started out with a 2.85 blower pulley and it was hitting 14lbs of boost at 4000 rpm on a vortech. Power at the wheels was 400 rwhp. Plus lots of belt slip, so they installed a 3.10 pulley and it was hitting 12lbs at 4000 rpm and still around 400 rwhp. Since the injectors were at 98% and boost of gone well up to 14+. We decided to order a bigger pulley and new belt to get it to about 10lbs boost. The stock block is safe at 500 horse flywheel, above that its a gamble. Happy part is on motor it alone N/A it pulls 350 rwhp and 370 rwtq at 5500 rpm. so if the blower adds a 100+ horse at 5500 it will put it at a liveable 450 and close to 500lbs of tq.

3100 lb car with driver. Should be a nice little LSX killer.

Yeah but what are you going to do about all the rice burners? LSx motors take it upon themselves to self destruct so that isn't aiming very high

j/k bro Nice car

Well the tune is done, the suspension coilovers were adjusted, bumpsteer adjustments, alignment for street/track is done, and they found my non-start issue. The non-start issue turned out to be the new MSD billet distributor. First they noticed the MSD pickup was moving back and forth do to bad molding. Then the computer attached to the processor in the car noticed a few strange things in the timing. The stator in the distributor was not set correctly on the shaft and it wasn't working all the time. So instead of swapping a stock rebuild unit, they installed new stator and oem pickup.

So we decided to not use the boost pressurized meth kit and since the 3.1 pulley was hitting 14lbs as mentioned above. We went to a 3.35 pulley and boost is now 11lbs max.
The graph shows from 2K thru 6k Torque at wheels at 2k is 300 and at 3500 its 380, and at 4000 its 410 and table tops to at 410 to 5700 rpm and drops to 380 at 6K.
Horsepower at wheels starts off at 250 at 2k, 300 at 3k, 350 at 4k, 403 at 5k, 410 at 6k.

With the 3.73 gears it should be pulling torque the entire time.

39lb injectors are at 80% and the maf is not near pegged.
AF starts off around 13 and hovers around 12 all the way to redline.

The clutch is slipping up top and not to shocked, one is its got less then 100 miles. Its only rated to 400 flywheel. Probably this summer we will swap it out to a centerforce II.

After the clutch upgrade and if I find a good deal on a Air/water intercooler I can up boost. But with a stock block, I would rather enjoy a couple years. Then swap in a Dart block with a stroker 331.

Picked up Foxrod at the Tuner in cincy, Pauls Performance Engineering. Car is running great and I don't even have to self modulate the throttle at cold start. Gotta redo the accessory pulley set up. Got about .125" space between same belt to belt. So going to a larger powersteering pulley and moving my airpump delete pump up a hole by drilling tapping a new hole. Should move the belt to about an inch. Need to wire tie the upper radiator hose to move forward a little bit. Tight tolerance with blower belt.

Hopefully new clutch break in a little more, but get some clutch slip around peak power. Probably going to drive till this summer and upgrade the clutch.

Gotta cut off the small gauge kenny brown subframe connectors and weld on some full lengths and install the torque arm. Then suspension will be finished.
