Well techinically tires are under the hood right?
Alright guys, you guys seem to be the more educated bunch then the jbody forum im on(don't take this as a huge compliment
) when it could come to helping me find some nice tires by recommendation or hear say i guess. Anyway I've had the same Michelin Destiny tires on my stocker wheels since early 07. All-seasons and basically there only good for the tread lasting forever.. there better then the eagle RSAs that were on the car but that is not saying much. Anyway I am looking for a good tire for daily driving with spirited driving/cornering here and there. Any suggestions? I have winter tires on another pair of wheels so winter driving isn't a concern to me. Hell i think my winter tires are better then these current all seasons. I went to Tire Rack and their highest avg customer rating pulled up some Continental ExtremeContact DW I've never delt with continental tires and don't know how they are but the ratings from customers seem to be really good (being #1 in the Max Performance Summer category) but other then that i have no clue. I've also seen some Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec that seemed pretty nice, and a guy i work with had them last year on his Impreza that he daily'd and also auto crossed in. Seemed to have no complaints but those might be a tire i wrap around some 18s and not factory 16s ![]() So any suggestion folks? Thanks guys

My only experience with Continental tires was not a good one. I had a Volvo S70 T5 that same stock with them from the factory and it's the only tire that I've ever owned that literally came apart on the highway and came completely off the rim and almost made me wreck.
The car only had about 5K miles on it too.

If you're more interested in performance than the "all season" factor, the Dunlops are a good choice. The Hankook Ventus RS3s are a good sticky summer tire as well.
I have a set of Kumho KH16s (205/55-16s on the OEM 5 spokes) on my Cobalt DD that I love. They're quiet, pretty grippy for an all season, great in rain/wet/snow, and they've lasted about 40k miles and still have some life left. They have a summer performance tire that's pretty good as well (Kumho XS).

I also looked at the Continentals that you have posted and was going to go with those, but they were on back-order at the time. Also, I have not had any experience with any Continental tires, but a lot of people said they didn't care for them at all. After hearing that and those being on back-order anyways, I went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Best tire I have ever owned and far better than the RSA's on my car before.

I wouldn't go near as hardcore as RS3s or Star Specs based on your description of what you want to use the for.

^^That is the kind of help I was looking for so i appreciate it. I try to keep remember that most of the ratings are based in their category... so i mean probably any performance summer tire will be better then my all-seasons so i tried going through them that way too last night and i was looking at the General UHP.. i have General artic's for winter tires and have no complaints so i was looking at them. Not to bad on price either. The hankook's look like they don't come in a 205/55/16 so those wont work.

continental tires are what my charger came with stock. absolutely garbage. literally, had to take the car in for an oil change, and new tires at 3000 miles.

Kumho Ecsta Platinum LX would be a good option for your style. They are quiet, last great, have a "W" speed rating and are good up to "pull me over and throw me in jail" speeds.

some of the best not quite autox tires but can be and drivability are made by michelin. I have star specs on my redline for summer, and they aren't for the faint of heart....lol rough ride, noisy, etc.....but they are brilliant at what they are made to do...

def wouldn't go w/ star specs unless you are only using for race applications. too exp otherwise. spirited driving in a cavy on stock suspension? come on stephen. let's be honest here.
