Nationwide COT cars @ Daytona

Here's a few pics from NASCAR Nationwide Series testing their COT at Daytona.

First up is the Dodge Challenger. It probably comes the closest to looking like the production car of the lot of them but why didn't they allow them to cut a qtr window profile that mimicks the real Challenger? Instead it looks like a Challenger 4 door sedan?!

Next up is the Chevy Impala. It looks a little like the production car, little more so than the Nextel Cup car. But then again, as bland as the production Impala looks, any two box shape looks like the current Impala.

This is the Toyota Camry. Other than the grille and headlight stickers it looks nothing like a Camry. Maybe the Camry would be a more compelling car if it looked more like this. And how is it the 2 "4 door" cars look more like 2 doors than the 2 door cars?

And last and probably least is the Ford Mustang. No, seriously, that's what NASCAR approved and Ford signed off on! Any resemblence to, no wait, there is NO resemblence to an actual Mustang. OK, the scalop on the side of the car maybe but I can't tell if it's a decal or if Ford is actually getting it's teams to create side skins with the scalop. My guess is that it's vinyl and will soon disappear. If you look at it really hard, it looks more like a 67 Mustang Coupe than anything and that's a stretch. Good job NASCAR!

It makes me wonder if they'd get more fans if the cars were "actual" cars with obvious safety items instead of tube frame racecars. I don't care if the cars were slower. I'd rather watch something a person could build themself.
